Someone is still making merchandise based on Eternals?

When they announced the Eternals on their Inside Iron Studios stream, they mentioned needing to get likeness rights from each individual actor. Apparently it took a really long time to get everyone’s approval. Hence the delay, but the line had been in the works for a while.

Similarly, one of the Spider-men (unnamed) did not approve his likeness rights, and so we got masked versions for all.

Good for him. Honestly, I wish superheroes actually cared about their secret identities in films and wear their damn masks. Yea, I realize actors have their vanity, but don’t give me the bs that “it’s hard to emote wearing the mask” when almost every major actor today has been in an animated film, which is basically what these superhero flicks today basically are. Since the actors are all wearing green ping pong suits today, let them act however they want and then cgi the mask on them and emote the mask like Spiderman, Venom, or Deadpool. Just let me see the super hero I’m paying for, not the over-indulged political activist actor.

As for the Eternals… I feel bad for any company releasing stuff today for that film. I don’t personally know anyone who liked the film. The merch all went clearance before the film even hit theaters in my neck of the woods. I hope Marvel doesn’t put a lot of weight to the show in phase 4/5/6 whatever we’re in now. Dr Strange 2 better be one hell of a good movie, otherwise I’m out of the mcu fandom. I’ll stick with the films up to Civil War/Ragnarok.

The "Eternals" is referring the amount of time these statues will sit in the warehouse.

Lol definitely! Dear gods… now I know what I’m going to get from relatives for Xmas…. They always try to get the “best deal” (ie lowest possible priced) stuff for me…

They don't have to actually manufacture any of the statues. That would be digging an even deeper financial hole than already exists.

Iron Studios has a lot of good properties and does a lot of characters I like, but . . . geez they can't get a face sculpt to look decent. In this batch alone, I would have gotten Evil-Lyn, Sorceress, and Hermione, but the faces are just awful.

Webz, I agree with everything you say further up the page. (I'm a little creeped out by that.)

I almost feel sorry for manufacturers who find themselves forced to bid for licensing rights just to try and maintain cash flow based on the hope that if you crank out product based on some crappy movie, SOMEbody might buy it. How's that for a high risk business model?! If I was an executive, I would tell Marvel where to put their Eternals, among other things.

Edit: We've griped about this before, so no sense re-hashing it. It's just frustrating, waiting on the sidelines for the occasional gem, or hoping against hope for a past gem in the after market that isn't priced beyond reason.

While I agree that the faces are not the best, I cut IS a bit of slack regarding likeness given the 1/10 sizing. As for the Eternals completists, the whole team will most likely run at least $1,500. The rest of us would rather wait for Kit Harrington to show up on screen again

I own a ton of DC Direct Covergirls and Kotobukiya statues that don't seem to suffer from the likeness / face quality problem. All of them were also cheaper than IS charges.
