Does anyone have a clear pic of them right next to their shiny/matte finish variant. I would like to know if I have passed up on them by accident. I don't exactly want to be taking my rulk/electro with me to the store every time I go hunting lol.

they are difficult to spot in photos my friend, but when you see them in person, its a no-brainer! At one point I owned FOUR glossy Rulks. Kept holding them under the light, etc trying to decide which was matte and which was glossy. When I finally did land a matte finish, the difference was so obvious!! Not as clear unfortunately for electro however :-? The glossy is only a slight variation. Very subtle.

Interesting. I had no idea there was a shiny and matte Red Hulk. Not sure which I have.

It's not even what I'd call a running change or a variant. I'm confident they simply left out one step in their process or a different finish was substituted by accident or last minute necessity. That is, it's probably more likely a Quality Assurance issue. This is pretty apparent in my "variant" Shield Agents and HYDRA Agents which I have a ton of and some have the glossy finish and some have the matte finish. Matte is obviously the intended finish because the vast majority of figures appear to have the matte finish. Then once in a while, you'll get an irregular figure with the "glossy" finish. Still, nothing beats the deformed HYDRA Agent I got with the gigantic thickened/stretched left forearm. I call him "Happy". Gotta love lazy QA officers (and the eBay sellers who take advantage of people with these special "variants").

The matte one looks almost chalky like someone had sanded it lightly where as the glossy one looks like someone covered it in a glaze like when you put super glue on plastic and it dries smooth.

I'm almost 100% certain that this is a mistake. I have both and I can honestly tell you that it looks like (to me at least) the same difference between my SHIELD Agents. This goes for both the Rulks and the Electros. There's no actual paint variation, it looks like someone just got inconsistent with the finish. I even went as far as to swap my matte finished Nick Fury figure's body with one of my glossy SHIELD Agents because it looks a little more dynamic but seriously, I doubt there was meant to be a variant in this case. This is just unofficial wishful thinking. Otherwise, I can tell you that there is another "variant" in the Soldiers and Henchman 3 Pack in that some are glossy, some are matte and some have deformed left forearms.

I remember I posted pics (Hisstank & Marvelous News) of this when Rulk came out. I never called it a variant but did point out that there was a matte and glossy finish on Rulk. I actually have one that looks almost pink on his chest and mid section. The arms are a litle more red. I think it was more of a QC issue. Hard to tell from the pics though. |

yup...a "chalky" look is the best way to describe it. Like I said, you will know without a doubt when you see it.

The changes for both are so subtle that its very difficult to tell them apart. I have all 4 versions (both Rulk and Electro) and I had a hard time tellin them apart.

Does anyone think they'll redo Red Hulk in the upcoming, and much improved, Hulk mold?

				 | Quote: Probably the same thing for Electro, but I don't think Hasbro has said one way or the other on the issue. But I will say this would be a great question to submit for the next Hasbro Q&A. ...hint, hint.
