I'm sort of glad that's the Marvel Select Red Skull. Obviously I want a Hasbro Red Skull for the cap line, but the idea of little kids playing Nazi also makes me a bit squeamish. If they don't make a MU size Red Skull for mass market, I'll be disappointed, but I'll understand.

EDIT: Also, is it just me, or is Johann about to flip someone the bird?

good point DrewBlank, Nazi toys aren't exactly the things to be in the hands of kids or anybody for that matter, if your beliefs are other wise then that's your call. I dig the sculpt, I'd imagine we would get a small version in the cap 1 1/18th scale line, but we'll make having to draw the Nazi symbol on ourselves..

sweet figure..

disagree on the nazi stuff tho.. its not like that figure has a swastika or something.. My son is 9 years old and can't stand the red skull and has no idea what a nazi is lol ... he would just have cap smash him no matter what. lol

That's one scary SOB. I would have nightmares if I had him in my collection staring at me in the morning when I woke up.

True.

Also you have to remember that the movie which the kids will (hopefully) see depicts the Nazi's as the bad guys and the Red Skull being the villian.

So between the Hydra symbols and the whole movie villian tag on the Red Skull I don't see it being too bad.

I do see your guyses point though

Nazi toys are good. Some people always go ape-s**t when hearing there's a child's plaything of something so heinous. These people always try to de-legitimize the product in the argument the toys are idols of Nazi glorification. This is so far from the truth. They are ACTION FIGURES. And as everyone should know, an action figure in each hand of a young boy (or any person) always leads to a little plastic ass being kicked. Nazi's being the worst villians in human history, it's befitting that even their "idols" feel the punishment for the rest of all time.

^^^This, very much so. I don't feel like anyone here is really like the the people described in here, I do feel that kids shouldn't be barred from that sort of thing. It's the parents duty to explain that Red Skull is a bad guy, and probably shouldn't be liked... But this is all coming from a guy who thinks that Red Skull is friggin' rad and that Nazis as a story device for villainy are badass... I'm a little desensitized as are many of my internet brethren to say the least.

Anyhow, like mentioned before, no matter what, he's Hydra so parents can just avoid the whole Nazi debacle entirely while their kids end up having what is hopefully a very badass toy.

Yeah, I wouldn't be too concerned about whether kids know that Red Skull was a Nazi. I think they'll be perfectly fine with him just being a villain that Captain America has to beat down.

Kids are much happier when things are simply black or white. It's the adults who get lost in all the gray areas.

As for the toy, it looks good, but I'm hoping we get some pics of an MU or CA:TFA Red Skull soon. It would be really cool if he comes with an alternate "Johann" head.

I don't see a problem with a kid playing with a Nazi Red Skull action figure. It just means the kid will make they're Cap figure kick his ass that much harder after seeing the movie.

This is one of the most truthful posts I've seen.

I played with all of the great classic toy lines growing up as a kid, and somehow I was able to become a fairly sane adult who has, thus far at least, not joined an evil terrorist organization determined to rule the world, joined the evil forces of the decepticons, or joined up with a bunch of mutants serving a somewhat inept skull faced despot. If anything, I have a greater appreciation for the fight against "evil" because of those classic "good vs. evil" toylines.

I think kids will be fine with a Red Skull figure. I assume they won't be putting any swastikas on him anyway. Probably just Hydra symbols. We often underestimate children's ability to distinguish between reality and make-believe. Those little rug rats are smarter than we often think.

I agree kids are smarter than given credit, besides aren't they taught WWII in school? So dont they know about the Nazi party? Besides we're supposed to just forget all of that part of history but remember other dark days like 9/11 or slavery? It happened. It's history. It's part of what makes us who we are, we grew stronger because of these events as we got past them. I say give the kids Nazi figures then let them decide if the bad guys get their butts kicked or hey if they want them to win then isn't that freedom of speech? I mean I'm not into all that Nazi crap but I'm just saying it IS our history and these are JUST toys/movies.
