Or at least rules that I can borrow? Mainly for simple gaming and/or role-playing. Something that will get beginners to get the game/story moving along. As well as not being too complicated to go backtracking with notes and rules.

I want to mix toy lines together to share/play with both kids and adults alike but want them to feel like they are part of the process too.

Since you seem to be willing to pull from various sources, you might also want to try adapting some game mechanics from D&D, AD&D or other similar games systems. Especially if you want to mix and match toy lines.

Thank you. I actually forgot about Superhero Showdown, and Star Wars did try doing something similar. I was thinking of D&D of course and HeroClix too, but I didn't want to re-collect miniatures again.

I was looking for something more on the lines of co-op rather than competitive play.

No problem. Btw, the Star Wars one was called Attacktix - similar to Heroclix's gameplay, but with larger miniatures. There were some Transformers and Marvel characters released for that line as well.

You should probably get one of the D&D Player manuals, take the action figures you want to use and adapt them to the various player character types. I wouldn't worry too much about some of the details (like alignment), but it would be a good way to design a template so anyone could bring their own action figures and have them incorporated into the game. This would also give you a basic outline for other game mechanics, such as battle and NPC interaction.

An even better idea would be to get one of the Super Hero RPG rulebooks and use it as a template. Besides the Marvel Super Heroes RPG (which was made by TSR and is similar to D&D), there are several others that range from licensed to generic:

We used to use Dragon Ball Z characters for some of our D&D gaming. It was a lot of fun!

I was daydreaming about something like this at work recently. I thought it would be cool for players to form small teams of figures. It would be neat to have Marvel characters vs. DC characters for instance, but it could get really crazy if you could have a team of figures like Predator, Batman and Wolverine square off against Han Solo, Malcolm Reynolds and Star lord for example. I was thinking something generic enough that you could plug in totally random characters. Maybe you could incorporate some dice too. I never got past the scribbling in a notebook stage, but I think it would be cool.

That's what I was thinking of when I asked the question. I think I saw a few Kickstarter projects that had a similar thing, but not quite the same vibe.

I was ecstatic when I heard Hasbro had toy plans for D&D, then they made it for Kre-o. Don't get me wrong, I like that it's out there. It was just not quite what I had in mind (and/or the scale I care for).

I know there is / was a marvel RPG game but I am not sure if it is in print. Much like some people use figures to play d&d games I am sure you could do something similar with a marvel based RPG

There is also currently out a batman miniatures game. I do now know much about this but it is a much smaller scale then normal action figures. I would imagine if you change the rules a bit to match the scale of the action figures it would be very playable.

I know there are also some older RPG games based around the DV universe, marvel universe and TMNT. I had a bunch of these when I was younger but never ended up playing them.

If you have a better idea of what you are looking for I can try to think of some other ideas. There is a lot out there game wise that could be changed up to work with action figures. Most miniature based games could be scaled up to use action figures and if they have characters similar to the heroes you could just change the names a it (infinity seems like it would be good in this way)
