Yeah, I have a major soft spot for McFarlane, since it was the Tortured Souls line that got me collecting again way back when. I have maybe 200 figures. They are all packed away right now, sadly.

I started collecting figures with McFarlane. Back in the days, I had like 50/60 figs from different lines. I had most of the one posted in the 1st post. Spawn, Youngblood, Wetwork were the series I collected + some music & Movie Maniacs. I still have something like a dozen figs.

It amuses me that they have collected virtually no value so any I ever feel nostalgia for I can easily acquire for like $6. I have just about every Spawn figure in box (stored away) and a number that I opened. In a way I'm sorta glad the color tops line is them returning, yeah it has a lot of room for improvement compared to modern competition but it reminds me of all of those staction figures I picked up over the years.

The Dragons Series were awesome. I also grabbed the complete set of The Infernal Parade. Too bad they started crumbling away.

I could understand the less to no articulation, they had fantastic sculpts and good paint. But the quality of the plastics really ruined them.

The Viper King is one of my favorites...

Possibly the best Naga toy-sculpt I have ever seen.

i'm fairly certain i owned about 85% of everything he ever put out...
not including the sports lines...even though i had quite a few of those as well.
HE CHANGED THE ACTION FIGURE GAME.

I remember Malebolgia being one of the original "really hard to get" figures that they jacked the price up on.
I remember opening my first Spawn figures and wondering why they smelled so STRONG (the plastic)..

@BM..
i have and also love that Viper King

i recall when i first started looking up prices and noticing this as well...i thought to myself how odd it was that the best figures being made in that era aren't' worth two dead flies smashed now.

Side Note: Literally a week ago I'm going through old containers of things I'm going to sell and came across this Al Simmons figure that looks MIGHTY suspect..lol...i'm gonna post of pic of it later..

You mean like these 2 guys? Heck yeah! I was a huge fan. I was always into the super patriot comics growing up since they were my first comics (weren't many in the series). I also have a couple more of the brand but these were my favorite.

He never lasts long in the comics either. He died after like two issues and was rebuilt later to die again. Cy-Gor lasted longer and I liked a lot more, although Overtkill is still cool.

McFarlane toys always amazed me because they made so many lines that didn't have any real media tie ins like Total Chaos. Nowadays, they barely do lines that don't have a major motion picture or something. I mean MLs finally came back to the comic style but mostly it's movie stuff.

My favorite figs that McFarlane toys did are The Maxx, Sansker, and maybe Assassin ONe. They looked great and were very striking figs.

I think my favorite McFarlane figure that I still have out on display is the deluxe Creech they made, the one that came with the reference art stand. I have the first Creech from the Spawn line still in box but the deluxe one from later is just such a solid, heavy, well detailed piece. The only problem I ever had was that one of his wrist gun things broke off but it plugs back on albeit loosely. I don't remember if I have the Maxx figure (I might it's been a long time since I looked at all of my boxed figures) but I feel like I would or should since I read The Maxx back when and watched the TV motion comic thing too.

Oh man, those were the days, hunting stores for all the variants and harder to find pieces(Maelbolgia, the Maxx, etc..).

Anyone remember spawn.com forums? Spent many o hours chattin figures, and the like, McFarlane toys really went downhill.

And that Creech figure is still one of my faces to tho day.

King Conan (Hour of the Dragon) is still my favorite Mcfarlane figure. Looks just like Frazetta's art.

Ah, yes, I remember those days fondly! It's funny, we get on the forum to complain about how hard it is to hunt down some of these McFarlane variants, but feel so good when we actually find one! It's like plastic crack! (much like what we do here).

Looking at what McFarlane stuff I still have on the shelves:

Matrix APU - amazingly detailed yet affordable piece of toy machinery! Only McFarlane could have done it!

Matrix Sentinel - same as above.

Sleepy Hollow Headless Horseman Deluxe set with horse - articulated horse on an awesome base!

Danger Girls, Wetworks, Youngblood, Savage Dragon - Love some of these less known (now forgotten by most) comic characters.

I also still have a lot of the fantasy related figures McFarlane made - Grave Digger, Mandarin Spawn, Necromancer, etc.

McFarlane has always produced beautiful mini-statues with minimal or meaningless articulations, but those of us that collected it never complained, because they're just beautiful to look at and we don't actually play with them anyway! I guess the expectation has changed.

Absolutely, Mandarin Spawn is still right up there as one of my all time favorite figures, it's such a beautiful figure, along with the Creech and the Maxx, sadly I no longer have most of my McFarlane stuff to display, but you listed some good ones, and man I never did get ahold of one of those matrix sentinals, but from what I've seen, they are great display pieces.

Yes, I was a HUGE McFarlane collector back in the day. I have the entire Spawn line (save for the Crocodile King from the tail end of the series...Never found that one) loose and stored away in bins for lack of current display space, plus many of the other non-sport lines (plus a few MLB and NFL Sportpicks). I'm not going to get into the new color tops Spawn(s) because they're not in scale withnthe previous releases, plus I've got too much already going into Marvel Legends and MOTUC.

They actually are about the same size as the last Spawn figures were (pretty much 7" scale) they just have the bases which elevate them. I got the new Hamburger head figure and it's pretty much the exact same size as the Commando Spawn II from the regenerated series (one of the few I still keep out so it's my comparison here).
