S.H. Figuarts WWE Figures (First 5) Mega Review - The Toyark - News

Running catch up, banged out a mega set for all 5.

Better than I expected. Stone Cold and The Rock have some good sculpts/heads in there, and HHH forward are all superb.

Also need to shout out Extreme Sets, that Arena Pop up is friggin crazy big!

I only have The Rock and Stone Cold so far, and I like them but have the same gripes about the face printing.

It's worth noting for anyone on the fence the prices are all over the place, but you can find them on Amazon if you wait it out for $30 or less. Stone Cold was like $22 on a great sale they had last week.

Great photo gallery, Tony. You can tell you're an old-school WWE fan. Nice work.

BTW, am I the only one who thinks the articulation on these figures looks hideous?

As always, that stuff is highly subjective. It differs from collector to collector, and it's all a matter of taste and how your brain picks up or ignores the breakage in the natural human form.

Scale figure collectors mostly detest articulated figures in general.

Western action figure collectors can't stand the joints on imported figures.

Even among collectors of import figures, certain brands/lines are criticized for their sacrifice of form over function (Revoltech for example).

Discussions as such will never go anywhere.

I'm not the type to make a big stink over it. Like you said, it's all a matter of preference.

As far as import figures go, I think Figma manages to camouflage their articulation the best while still maintaining an impressive range of motion.

I don't mind the articulation. I like the enhanced shoulder movement to give such a wide range. These guys are almost always just in trunks, you're can't hide the stuff with any clothing like other characters, so might as well just go for it IMO.

These figures clearly represent the Attitude Era. He didn't have the chest tattoo back then.

RE: Articulation - I think articulation wise, they are great. But, they have noticeable cuts. As was said, you gotta weigh what you can handle visually, or what you are going to do with them, vs the cuts and go from there. I used to be bothered by it on all lines, but over time I don't even notice it anymore. My brain just blocks it out. I'm more picky with paint apps and alignment of paint now, I can't NOT see that stuff where before I didn't notice it.

And yes I did watch the Attitude era almost in full. From like 96 to 2003 or 4 pretty thoroughly. Went to Wrestlemania 15 and 16, a Summer Slam I think. Couple RAWs locally. It was a fun run, time. Watching old clips to get inspiration for this shoot was a trip down memory lane, so damn fun.

The only one that bugs me is the Undertaker because his legs and abdomen look so skinny compared to his chest and pelvis. The others are pretty decent.

I just dont care for how these turned out. The faces seem off on most, the cuts are distracting, and some of the attires I dont like. I have thousands of Mattels, some Funkos, and stackdown brick figures, but just cant get into these. I have DBZ and Nintendo Figuarts and like how other lines look, just not WWE. Maybe if they do Sting or Macho Man I wont be able to resist...

Triple H looks excellent. I'm not a huge wrestling fan but a Sting would be an autobuy

I'm waiting to see who else they release before I pick these up. Currently the only ones I want are Rock and Austin (I love Taker but I prefer the 90s Taker look). I already have the mattel figures of the wrestlers I want. If they release, Hogan, Warrior, Macho, Sting, and Hart i will definitely jump on these.

I doubt they'll release a Hulk Hogan figure. Not in a WWE-branded line anyway, since there's pretty much no relationship between them anymore since the sex tape scandal.

I think there was a Vince McMahon figure planned. So I hope he gets released along with Shane McMahon, Kurt Angle, Shawn Michaels, Mankind, Chris Jericho, X-pac, Razor Ramon, Diesel, New Age Outlaws, Hardy Boyz, Edge and Christian, Dudley Boyz, Trish Stratus, and Lita.

They had a Hiroshi Tanahashi figure on display at one of the toy shows in Japan, so I guess they're releasing that at some point and maybe more New Japan wrestlers.
