I remember that story. One of my favorite reads was the new avengers. Good art, awesome story telling and cool revised characters. Luke cage started to finally look cool, is this from that story? It makes it look like it but I can barely see the picture well

I think it's sort of a mixture of it. That story they break out of the Raft not the Vault, but it's interesting because in the Cap CW movie they break out of the Raft...These box sets are pretty cool though.

Wait, why is the Sandman in the new pic green but sand colored in the other one?

Really nice set..I actually want all of these characters with the possible exception of Spider-Man. Dreadknight brings me one step closer to having the 80's Iron Man tv rogues gallery...so I'm shocked and loving it!

That's the outward packaging art. It shows the villains contained and docile, but when you open the package you see the actual figures breaking out/rampaging. Hence, sandy Sandman and Amora with magical effects.

Maybe I'm just not a true fan, or maybe it's because I haven't read the story this set of things must reference, but I really wish this set kept the Spider and the Sand, and replaced everyone else with Spider-Man villains. I, a man who grew up on Spider-Man cartoons from before my time and Spider-Man video games, would buy that, especially if one of the villains was instead Black Cat.

It seems Hasbro is trying to spread the appeal of the set by releasing various characters from the different domains/figure heads of Marvel.

Abomination = "Hulk"
Enchantress = "Thor"
Dreadknight = "Iron Man"
Purple Man = "Marvel Knights"
Sandman = "Spider-man"

While it makes sense to release a bunch of characters from one property, it would definitely narrow the appeal of the set. This way instead of only gaining interest from Spidey fans, Marvel also gets the attention of fans of Hulk, Thor, etc.

I need Enchantress, Abomination, and Purple Man, so I have to buy this. Oh, and Sandman even though I'm sure this means we will get a standard one later.

And how is that different from any other SDCC exclusive? Or from every other year?

Last year Dormammu was Odin, Hela was Valkyrie, Doctor Strange was just translucent, and Brother Voodoo was Tigershark/Grim Reaper/Sentry. The only one who was really new was Magick.

This time around:

Enchantress has a new lower torso and head.
Don't know where you see Hobgoblin in there though.
I can definitely see Absorbing Man, but he has a new head.
Again, the head sculpt on Purple Man is new, and that is all that is needed when the suited body is perfectly fine.
Abomination might use Rhino's body, but he has a different head, feet, and lower arms and hands.

As for the others? Yup, it's a random assortment alright.
Thanks for the info guys.

If you want a figure out of this box you have to get it,never forget Luke Cage. If they would do what they did with him then they would do it with any of these characters.

Wasn't Magik also made up of Hasbro's usual teenage girl body parts as well?

Not going to lie, if I get my hands on Purple Man I will totally buy a Tennant Doctor figure to turn PM into Netflix Killgrave.

I'm torn on it.

On one hand, Abomination doesn't really need to be there. Eel is in his BAF wave and has the large torso piece so the art cross-sell falls flat. Should have been any other Spidey villain already released in another wave.

On the other, all the figures in the box are good and the display is good. Shipping is always a pain, but the initial $120 doesn't feel too bad.

Back to the one, kick Abomination out and tone down the box and this would have been a pretty cool retail exclusive.

But this is probably the only shot at Dreadknight and Purple Man, and getting them alone will cost $120 or more on the secondary market.

Like Negasonic said, you've got me in a box...

If anything, it would just be her legs.

The more I look at her, the more I absolutely love the expression on Enchantress' face : haughty smirking villainy.
