He's still got the pointy ears, green undies, and is mostly undressed so Namor would still be my first guess.

Elves have pointy ears and wear green. Also, the attire looks more like he came from Egypt or something. Just a weird design.

It's ancient Mesoamerican from the looks of it, likely done to not have yet another generic mythological/sci-fi society (like Asgard but underwater).

First time I'm gonna pass on a ML wave and a MCU movie in theaters, they are really dropping the ball... But I'll keep my hopes high...

I actually still need a comic Black Panther to go on my Avengers shelf... wanted the Walmart exclusive one, but never saw it anywhere, so the one that comes in this wave should be good enough.

I read a post on a rumour board a few weeks ago about Namor having an ‘Aztec’ look in BP 2, apparently they have done it to avoid cinema goers getting confused with Aquaman and his Atlantis, this is from a movie Studio that had one of two versions of the same character (Quicksilver) in two separate movie franchises appear on screen in the same year

who's playing NAMOR? is he more jacked than Momoa?? Attuma looks like the Heart Eating Priest from Temple of Doom.

I don't know when the plastic-free complaints will end, but this is going to become the norm. In addition to general corporate social responsibility standards, governments are beginning to ban plastic use like in packaging. I'm not sure if Canada's single use plastic ban applies to retail boxes, but that's the trend. Hasbro's change is here to stay.

It should be noted that Hasbro at least came out and said that plastic will remain on the "vintage" style releases, albeit plastic made from plant based sources, but the point is they will retain the original look.

But for new releases there is no need for the "nostalgia experience", so this is the new norm going forward. If that's a deal breaker for anyone then fine, but otherwise we're going to have to except it and buy the figures or move on.

Just remember folks, no agency came down on hasblo to do this ridiculous packaging change. They did it on their own thinking it would earn points with certain parts of the populace. The only thing they respond to, and even then not very well, is money. Overnight, my buying habits have changed and it is hasblo's fault. There were some characters in 6" scale that I felt were worthy of buying two of. Not anymore.

I know they look more or less movie accurate and yes, I admit I'm not a big fan of the MCU, but I simply can't get behind that Namor look. It just looks dumb to me. I don't get the whole arrogant, self-centered vibe Namor is supposed to give, from this figure. As a comic fan I keep comparing it to the comic version and this just doesn't do it for me. It looks like some Aztec reject, which was probably the idea. Again, the figure is not really to blame here. I just don't dig Disney's re-imagining and casting of the classic character. :s

... OHHHHHHH, I get it! It's like Has-BRO, but instead you said Has-BLO, like BLOW, like the slang term for being lousy! That's pretty clever, I'm amazed no one's ever come up with that before!

I have better shit to do with my time than drive around to every store in the area toy hunting.

If something isn't at my local store, I actually exercise patience and wait for prices to come down on ebay, ask a seller to send me a close-up pic (if they don't already have one), and then I buy a figure with good paint for a reasonable price.

Question: Obviously, Hasbro has banished plastic from the outer packaging, but what about the interior? What will be replacing the plastic tray?

Cardboard. Lol. I saw the review of Renew Your Vows Spider-Man, they used little cardboards to hold up the figures.

Wait...patience? You mean you actually handle toy collecting and the decision making that accompanies it like an actual adult? I wouldn't expect that from someone blithely accused of "galavanting". You, galavanter, you.

Yeah. We can't see the figures we plan to buy and no more plastic trays. We'll have figures affixed to cardboard backers and weapons wrapped in tissue paper. No longer worth galavanting around town in the endless search for the "perfectly painted action figure."

Completely agree. Namor needs those high arched eyebrows and arrogant demeanor. He needs to be big and imposing. Not a tiny dude wearing biker shorts, sporting a dirt mustache, encumbered with 50 pound neck thing (that makes him look even smaller), MASSIVE ear plugs and that ridiculous nose bar. That DOES NOT resemble Namor.

If Hasbro was actually concerned over Namor being confused with Mamoa's Aquaman they should have stuck with Namor's comic look. No way in hell he would have been taken for Mamoa.

Transformers releases have been doing this for some time, at least as far back as the Kingdom line.

Anyone saying this guy looks like the source material must not work out. I didn't know that Disney hired Russel Wilson to play Namor. This actor is short, has zero muscle tone or definition. Lack traps & his arms are puny, the damn arm bracelets look like they're gonna slide off. He has lower back flab! For someone that has gone toe to toe with Thor, Hercules & the Hulk in the comics, this guy looks like he'd have trouble fighting & beating the Wasp. Disney dropped the ball big time on this casting choice & neglecting to work him out.

Really don't like the designs. I'm guessing that Nakia is in some kind of underwater attack suit.

Shuri looks...odd. Like if you told me that was a MCU out of her armor Riri Williams I'd say "absolutely". Given that Riri is rumored to be in it I thought that WAS Riri.

Not these days. They just slap a familiar name on something completely opposite the source material and its okay. Just like that shitty remake of the karate kid with will smiths kid. Wasnt even about karate but kung fu. Thats why all these uninspired remakes etc are shitty because theres no fucking originality or respect for source material.

ugh. terrible wave of terrible MCU designs!

the packaging sucks hard.. but lets just talk about the figures.

The comic-accurate one is the ONLY good figure in this wave. I ordered the comic Black Panther figure and that's it.

the biggest let down is of course Namor. The mayan/aztec redesign thing blows hard... what a way to disrespect the oldest super-hero.

And the guy they got to play him from Narcos looks like he didn't even take the job seriously. Did that guy even hit the gym once to get ready for the movie? Seriously, where are the muscles? He should have taken a que from Christ Hemsworth (Thor) or even Kumail Nanjiiani (Kingo from Eternals).

The figure looks even worse.. he's scrawny. He doesn't even have a single leg muscle! His legs look more like Barbie... Hasbro should have tried to help the guy out and at least made the figure jacked.. even if it wouldn't be movie accurate

Same with Attuma. He should be BIG and much more muscular than most superheroes. I've been waiting for an Attuma figure since Toybiz.. this certainly is not it
