We all look forward to reviews from fellow collectors, on how articulation, paint apps, sculpt etc are of figures before we shell out our hard earned $$, I would like to discuss the worst toy ever. This is an action figure, playset, vehicle etc that we deem as pure garbage, either issues with paint, sculpt, articulation etc. and who knows we may all come to a conclusion.

Worst sculpt: IMO terminator salvation was shit quality for every scale

worst paint: some of the IM2 walmart exclusives had horrible spots, luckily I spent my time and found ones that were flawless,

worst articulation lobo box set I picked up, the handle bars snapped off his boke when trying to make his hands grib them,

malfuctions/broken parts: Rare item Jimi Hendrix by Mcfarlane, the chord to attatch the guitar to the amp broke, on both ends, the marshall stack had a broken peg,

the above are all categories to think of or include when naming your choise.
Ps this is not subject to new itema can be 10-30yrs old etc.

I bought a Captain Barbosa from the new Pirates of the Caribbean line last week. He can't stand up by himself, his crutch doesn't reach the floor from his hand or his armpit, and he looks like Captain Crook from the old McDonald's commercials. I can't suitably describe what a useless and ugly toy Barbosa is without using words that would get my post deleted.

The only worse action figures I can think of are the second year of Justice League toys from Mattel, the first ones with knee and elbow articulation. I bought some for my son and my cousin's kids, and they fell apart as soon as they were opened. We sent them to Mattel and had them replaced, and the replacements fell apart. I wouldn't buy Mattel toys for years after that.

EDIT: And as long as I'm thinking about it, all of the regular male crew members in Playmates Star Trek Movie last year line had one leg longer than the other. I think it's why they all came with little chairs.

Thanks for the feedback.. I would love this to be a database of crap so that people who have made the mistake of buying these will be the last, so that we can save our $$ for better pieces of plastic!

The problem with that is it's all subjective. One person's experiences with a certain toy is vastly different from another's.
My definition of plastic crap is Universe Hotshot. I hate it as one of the worst designed/engineered TFs of recent years. However, it's one of the most popular, and praised as being much better than Armada, even though I prefer the Armada version.
And applying diecast to anything also immidiately makes something crap to me, while it's also another highly praised practice.

So the problem with a "Bad Toys Database" is quite simply, no one would ever agree on anything, unless you restricted it exclusively to quality control. And I don't think most people have that self control.

You should try it. I've been mad about those Justice League toys for years, and four sentences of whining about them on the internet and I'm fine again.

The healing can begin.

Hmmm... Joseph Blassreiter from Megahouse. The actual figure is far from what is depicted, low quality plastic, bad paint apps, almost falling apart and incredibly expensive for a figure that is not even 5".
I would also vote for MU Mary Jane figure... that figure is a monster!!! I really don't know why most of the toy companies have such a hard time making female characters (beside Japanese guys, Mcfarlane and Neca), hope someday someone can answer this question to me.

I'd have to agree with Crazy Jetty. A lot of this is subjective and even more is simply a personal experience issue. Sure, you can decry an entire line for bad paint apps or bad QC, but is that the toy's fault? If a toy has bad QC, should we call it a bad toy, or blame it on the factory that made it since it wasn't designed that way?

And would only one bad aspect of the toy serve to damn the entire toy forever, or are there redeeming qualities to be found if one would only look past the faults?

Of course, if you want to say toy X sucks and it's the worst toy I've ever owned, you're free to do that. Just bear in mind that for toy X, one person may think it's crap and another might love it.

Alright then, lets post on the worst toy you ever owned! and why you found it to be that way. I like that, because there was good points mentioned for someone who had a bad experience or felt a toy was inferior may not reflect the majority concensis, or someone may have gotten the defect out of the batch etc. So what's the worst toy you've owned in your opinion and what made it the worst?

My experiences with Marvel MU, and the final ultra articulated DCIH have all been bad. I find the quality on them to be sorily lacking, and the emphasis on ultra articulation (Far more than is nessisary for the size) to make them far too fragile.
My Major force's leg snapped off almost as soon as I took it out of the package, and the rest of them always feel like they will. Both my Jean Greys (Jean and Dark Phoenix) feel like they'll snap if I try to make their stuck joints move.
