My last few days have been great sinc eI've managed to pick up:
MU Archangel MU Warpath Variant MU Taskmaster & Deadpool It showed me how much patience we have to have these days when it comes to figures because trying so hard to get them soon not only makes scalpers happy but it's also the fact being that you will get to find them at MSRP in a store when you leats expect it. In my case I remember how apeshit everyone was over the archangel figures & the variant warpath but low & behold, it was in my local TRU & i nabbed these figures with a smile on my face. I didn't have to go to ebay when my patience was rewarded with revision waves that will allow me to get some AIM guys, Skrulls, Kitty Pryde, Capt. Britain, Mystique, & Havok since nopbody visits this TRU that much. |

That's funny the same thing happened to me the other day, I found both archangel and the warpath variant at the local tru. Well worth the wait!

I don't think it's as much patience with some of those gems (Archangel) as it is luck. Some of those rare MU figs are only going to be found in stores if you're lucky enough to get there the same day (probably more like hour) as they're unpacking cases.
Nice finds either way though.

You are absolutely correct. Not only is it good on your wallet, but the thrill of the hunt is still there.
I will not lie, I have caved in for MU variants with scalpers, but as far as movie lines, no way. There will be figs aplenty.

I know I get caught up in the hunt and start going so regularly that it loses its fun after finding nothing for a few days straight. I've started to limit how much I go which makes me not so disappointed when I go every once in a while and find nothing.

Yeah, it's not really like this in my area. The new stuff comes and disappears off shelves and pegs as soon as the store opens. If for whatever reason (school, work, etc.), you can't be there at 9 AM, no amount of patience is going to help you find in-demand figures at retail.
Now, if you're talking about patience for the figures to show up on HTS.com or TRU.com or go down in price on eBay, then that applies to me. |

My 2 pitfalls are lack of funds and lack of resources, majority of the holes in my collection are due to fellow collectors beating me to the punch.scalpers raping the pegs dry and lack of shipment. My local zellers has the same MU figures in stock week after week, with the IM figures now all half price but nothing I don't already have or want.. it gets frustating.. the thor wave is ok,. but I have most of it minus all versions of thor. The 2nd and 3rd waves are where the $$ is at for me, and I'm still missing the last few waves of IM2 figures which are the best IMO.

I believe the exception to this rule are the 4 amazing figures in the last wave of Iron Man 2. I have 2 of each, but I caved to ebay for my first set and luckily got a preorder on bbts for the other.

There sure arent plenty of figures available for many movie line figures. Red Skull, Crossbones, Destroyer will not be easy to find. Rhino, Carnage and Venom are hard to find at retail for the spiderman line and im sure there will be a lot of wanted figures that most will never find at retail.
I've never see comic whiplash or mandarin for the iron man line. Also the war machine figure with the removable mask. |

There seem to be enough of those around at TRU, but they are a bit pricey at $17.99 each. Last edited by hrothgars; 05-25-2011 at 01:14 PM.. |

Even though I have the patience [not by choice] I am sadly losing the thrill of the hunt. It is to the point where I end up spending 150-200 dollars worth of gas before I find something new. It is at the point I will have no choice but to use ebay and/or BBTS.
Oh well, I am still extremely happy with what I have, and am thankful for it too =3

I still haven't found thanos. T_T
But otherwise I tend to agree. I went looking for DOTM toys, and the GL guardians packs and bam, there was taskmaster deadpool on the shelf next to a repackaged one some douche returned that had XMO Deadpool and spider-man instead. =/ But hey, at least they still had the normal one at the time too. |

I agree about patience. Just a few weeks ago I found Thanos and Yellow Jacket in my local Wal-Mart. I've NEVER seen those figures in a store. I actually thought I was going to have to order them online. But I lucked out.
Now, in March I went to my Comic Con, and they had (Phasing) Vision, Jean Grey, and Dark Hawkeye. Those I heard were really hard to find. So I caved and bought them. Paid 30 for the Jean Grey, 20 for Vision, and 12 for Hawkeye. A week later I went to Wal-Mart and who was on the front row of the pegs? ALL. EFFIN. 3. OF. THEM. So I learned to just wait it out, and maybe one day I will find Blade!! |

I never found Thanos Wave [minus constrictor] Vision Wave, WWH wave, Cable wave.
Last new wave I saw was ghost rider wave and bought them all then and there. Seen nothing but Ultimate WW2 cap and shit ton of deluxe figures. And I have only seen Thor for Thor :P

Are you talking about the 6-inch Armored Avenger Series (War Machine, Mark VI, Hulkbuster Armor, Titanium Man, Crimson Dynamo, Mark V, Initiative Armor War Machine, Stealth Iron Man)?
There seem to be enough of those around at TRU, but they are a bit pricey at $17.99 each. |

Seems like I've been waiting forever for the Cable wave. Been looking everywhere almost every day. We're finally starting to get the new two-packs here and there in my area so hopefully that's an indication of good things to come.

My Wal-Mart does not get single carded figures anymore since the last time I cleaned them out. From what I have been told, their auto ordering system is check out based, so whatever is sold, is ordered. My Wal-Mart only has 2 Namors and as long as they aren't sold, the system wont order any. She was nice enough to put an order in for single carded figures but said the system can erase the order too... sigh.

No patience here, more like luck when I'm hunting...both of my Cables arrived earlier, patience applied there.

That sucks man. I think Constrictor was the only one I found from that wave until like 5 months later. Most of the pegs at my Wal-Mart and near by states have full pegs all the time. It's usually WW2 Cap, Bucky, Thor, Sunfire, Warpath, Jean Grey, Wrecker, Vision, Skrull Soldier, Multiple Man, Kitty Pryde, Union Jak. Every once in a while you see something you need. But those are the basics every time I go hunting. |

I'm starting to retract my stance on having patience. F**k that!! In the past 5 day, 9 walmarts, 4 targets, 3 TRU's. A Wolverine/ Silver Samurai 2 pack to show for it...and probably 2 tanks of gas. That's a trade off for the extra you may pay online.
I'm even starting to question why I collect anymore. At first it was fun..but now? Its like a chore...and it shouldn't be. But my collection is over 99% complete, and frankly I just feel obligated to follow it through now. sigh.
