That movie does not deserve such a deluxe treatment (or that very cool BB-8 figure).

The 9th highest grossing movie all time worldwide (6th in U.S.) doesn't deserve a deluxe home release?

Why? It was a good movie. Not great, but good. It had some wicked battles, defunked some dumb fan theories, and gave us a kick ass Luke Skywalker moment. Just because it wasn't perfect doesn't make it unworthy of getting a good release.

Not interested in the movie, and that BB-8 is not interesting at all. He should have come with that accessory in the Kylo set. I'm surprised they couldn't come up with anything else to pack in.

They could not pay me to own that awful, insulting film.

Objectively speaking, this movie was a mess in terms of using narrative styles and devices, character development, maintaining coherency with its back story and so forth. Subjectively, I am sure some did genuinely like it.

So it really shouldn’t have grossed anywhere near what it did. Most of the money likely came in because older fans like myself just went to see it because it’s STAR WARS. Judging by what I have seen, most fans weren’t too happy.

It’s the first SW movie I will not even bother purchasing myself. I would rather spend that money on an Old Republic Omnibus or something.....

If that is what you consider a kick ass moment, what would you call something like the scenes you see in the KOTOR cinematic trailers? I agree that a movie doesn’t need to be perfect, but this movie had glaring issues that made Transformers Revenge of the Fallen feel like a masterpiece.

A very, very vocal minority were angry with the film. Box office success like this doesn't just come from people seeing it "just because". The film sustained 3 full outstanding weeks of box office attendance. It's also has solid per theater averages even until last week. That's the type of business you get from repeat viewings.

As an aside, I do have my own problems with the film. I found it flawed but enjoyable. It's about the middle of the pack for my Star Wars rankings.

Box office numbers does not equate quality. You can slap the Star Wars brand on a turd and it will make millions. Just as there are movies now considered cinema classics which tanked at the time they were released.

Not really. Releasing the first few episodes of Star Wars The Clone Wars in theaters was considered a massive miss on the part of Lucasfilm. And I never referred to quality in that post. The movie is a massive money maker and that means it gets the high end treatment on home video.

No Star Wars movie is perfect. I wasn't expecting Last Jedi to be either but I was expecting it -at the very least- to be respectful of its established characters and its universe. Here's what frustrated me, off the top of my head:

1 - Hux / Poe conversation - Not funny at all and it reduces the menace that Hux represents (the First Order) to a stereotype of the bad guy of the week in a bad TV series.
2 - Luke tossing over his shoulder the lightsaber (that Force Awaken established as a kind of Excalibur of Star Wars) - No respect for his late father's item; the same I-don't-care-about-it-all-anymore attitude could have been made without the "funny" effect by simply letting Luke drop it to the ground.
3 - The milking scene - The less said about that the better. It was embarrassing and totally unnecessary.
4 - The whole casino sidestory, especially the search for the slicer Maz (underused) suggested; why go through all the trouble simply to end up in jail where -oh what a surprise- a guy rots there just waiting to be recruited? Cut the entire Canto thing from the movie and the story will not change. Superfluous.
5 - Rey's vision - Someone can explain what that hole in the ground was supposed to represent beside the obvious a-hole of the island?
6 - Phasma - Wasted, again. It has become ridiculous.
7 - Snoke - Would it have been so hard to make it boast what he has done, where he has been during the Empire, how he has become the "Supreme Leader", etc. when he confronted Rey, just so we could have had a glimpse at who the ****ing hell this big bad guy is?
8 - Look, I'm Leia Poppins y'all - Really? THIS is what the filmmakers came up with to show Leia use the Force? In what was supposed to be a big emotional moment for the character, there was laughter in the theater where I attended. Personally, I was embarrassed for the late actress.
9 - Holdo vs Poe - I understand there was two points of view opposed here but the way it was filmed made the vice admiral look like a villain in disguise. IMO, it should have been Leia in that hyperspace ramming scene...
10 - Luke vs Kylo - I'm ok with all the Force projection power. But someone explain to me why Luke chose to show himself holding the now destroyed blue saber -which Ren broke with Rey- instead of his green one?

This said, here's what I actually liked:
1 - Kylo Ren's inner conflict is fascinating and makes the character that much more interesting to me.
2 - The soundless hyperspace ramming scene was very artistic and enjoyable.

I'm forgoting some things, good and bad, since I've only seen the movie once. It's the first time I don't see a Star Wars movie in theater at least twice.

For me The Last Jedi was not a good Star Wars movie. If the director has to go and explain -continuously- some things from his film, it simply means he didn't do his job well. A movie should stand on its own and this latest episode simply doesn't.

Again, this. The superb KOTOR trailers blow this movie away and are more Star Wars-y than The Last Jedi can ever hope to be. Hey, even Mark Hamill has been very vocal about not being too thrilled with Johnson's interpretation of Luke...

If quality isn't in the equation but only the $$$ numbers then, yes, Last Jedi deserves a deluxe treatment. But that means Bay's flurry Transformers FX videos do to and I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that idea

Anything that makes bank at the box office will, and should, get the premium treatment for home video release. Also, the making of the effects stuff on the Transformers flicks are fascinating. I don't even like those films and those discs are usually packed with goodies.

interesting points..
and while i wholeheartedly agree with you on some..
that list would would be TWICE as long for almost any other star wars movie....
pleassssse don't get me started on the prequels....and i like ALL of them..but i accept them for what they are/were independent films

Oh hey, this thread again.

It's unbelievable to me how people are still this butthurt over a movie. It was okay, some pretty scenes, some dumb stuff, overall too long IMO, but that's about it.

I really don't understand why certain individuals feel personally offended over this flick and feel the need to rip it apart in a toy forum.

Good! Use your aggressive feelings, [angry fans]. Let the hate flow through you!

Joking aside I enjoyed TLJ but flawless it certainly was not. Like Joe said I would rank it around the middle of the franchise. It did run too long and the entire casino side-plot could have been removed or at least much more condensed.

I didn't picked up TFA yet but I loved TLJ, definitely considering putting the money towards this. Wonder what differences it'll be from the states release. Though I might have to just get both.

I'll maybe come back and pick this one up if JJ starts Ep.9 with Luke waking up from a terrible Nightmare and everything TLJ is purged from the storyline... But still probably not. lol.

For me TLJ ranks below the OT, higher than the prequels and still undecided where I'd rank it within the Disney movies.

But lets take Transformers. Almost all the movies have been a box office hit. Are they really good movies? Not really! So imagine the effect a brand name like Star Wars carries with all the fans it has built through the years?

I do not think its surprising that it earned a lot of money for multiple weeks because usually fans do try to avoid spoilers and reviews before going in. Most people I knew had booked tickets for multiple viewings even before the movie had come out. Some of my friends who hated the movie after first viewing it, still ended up going for another viewing hoping that something might make them end up liking the movie.

This is a really nice set.

It's not my favorite of the movies, but it is not as bad as some people make it out to be. Personally I loved the "Milk" scene.
