I don't know if anyone else has heard this one. It's for the Star Trek collectors. I've been keeping an eye out for the Diamond Select Toys release of their Enterprise-B toy, the variant of the Excelsior mold (both announced a couple of years ago). The thing's release date kept getting pushed back. When I went to check on it recently, it was marked SOLD OUT. Though't I'd missed it. But wanting to know for sure, I emailed the nice folks at BBTS and they tell me Diamond has cancelled the item.
In the end, this may mean nothing. Diamond cancels items only to offer them up again for solicitation at a later date. But thought that the few others out there who've been collecting these might want to know. Personally, I'd been looking forward to a complete set of all the Enterprises. Might have to fill those gaps with model kits. :/ And I can only assume that the Excelsior version is cancelled, as well, but I didn't ask. ================================== Here's my brief email exchange with BBTS ================================== I've been trolling for months waiting for this product to hit, visiting almost every day. I came back after not visiting for maybe two days and now it's marked SOLD OUT. Is it really sold out? Did it finally hit and I just missed it? Or did Diamond cancel the orders for a possible future re-solicitation? And if you ARE sold out, are you going to try to order any more? U.S.S. It doesn't surprise me. The Diamond ships are painfully expensive, which hurts a lot of people who would be more in for impulse buys. As much as I am absolutely smitten with Trek Ships, these are out of my reach, and probably the same for a lot of people.
(it takes more than some fancy electronics to get me into large, very expensive and out of scale ships. Can the electronics and make the line in scale!)
