Honestly,

What's the point of buying a figure that appreciates about 150% in value right after you pay retail price for it if your just going to open it?

They put him in a Giant Blister Card for a reason.

You have way better options my friend.

On the other hand... what's the point of buying a TOY that you aren't going to play with... Kind of like the "fine" china... We don't use those plates, they're just there to look pretty.... :P That's up there with marrying Salma Hayek and not sleeping with her... I don't want to get fingerprints on her... :P

Just because the price is down right now, due to the availability at retail for the sentinel w/wolvie, doesn't mean it will stay that way.

The appeal to this exclusive is for the giant blister card display that will definitely appreciate in value over the years when future MOC collectors who arrived late in the game (this always happens) bring up the demand.

I saw this happen with Galactus last year and I still have yet to see that bad boy for less than $170.

Hell I saw SDCC Sentinel going for $160 at some booths at the con the Friday I was there. Granted that was just to exploit the "gotta have him now" types who couldn't make the Hasbro line, I believe the demand will go back up for this eventually.

I opened 2 of mine. Left one in the box/card for "novelty" purposes. I stopped that whole resale value mentality ages ago after hoarding all my TF boxes and all those damned electronics/video game boxes. Nobody cares. Into the bin it goes. When I want to enjoy the artwork for these boxes, I go onto the internet and type in the name of the item. Makes no difference whether I'm looking at a 2D image in printed form or on the web. Either way, it shares the same level of tangibility.

Yeah, but that horn doubles as a mutant-whacking stick!

Can't you picture the cantina music playing as it murders half of Utopia?
Now that's a nightmare for ya!

If you plan on selling it down the line I wouldn't open it. If you don't plan on selling it, you can always do the old "carefully slice around the bubble" opening technique to preserve the cool packaging and put him back in it to display that way down the line.

And what is the difference in opening the one you have, or buying another one at TRU to keep this MOC? The difference is you're spending an extra $50 on a second one (that you wouldn't get if you already had an opened one) which is probably the profit you'd make by selling your MOC SDCC version. So even financially I see it as a wash.
