Looking back, the biggest story of the last week has got to have been Botcon 2011. From the initial opening of pre-registration just under a week ago, to the selling out of first loose sets, then non-attending Iacon packages and finally, Primus packages selling out, it's been one heck of a sell-out week for the official Transformers convention and a testament to the popularity of a Transformers Animated themed set of convention exclusives.

News has hardly been slow in other areas either and if today is anything to go by the week ahead is going to be even better! Two items that made me smile in the last week were the more unusual pieces we got a look at. Sure, you've got your usual assortment of new toy images, but how about a Movie Bumblebee plushie? Or a ride-on with Optimus Prime's face on it?

That's the beauty of Transformers merchandising now. There's a lot more to it than toys and every once in a while something entertaining and cool comes along.
