I think I get it now. Instead of one joint, there are two joints on a piece that would look like a double box-end wrench. Figures can then touch their chins or heads, etc. or flex all muscle-man style. Crouching is also achieved. This is a good thing, thanks for the explanation.

I saw these on some recent figs across all lines and I think it makes the forearm/wrist look rather robotic. Having a sturdy ball joint at the wrist is out of scale with the rest of the arm, more so on skinny armed figures.

That said, maybe there is potential in the new Swamp Thing wrist design, but hopefully not at the expense of stress marks on the "skin" at the hidden wrist joint.

Anyway, action figures are rad.
