Picked up two Hydra soldiers Monday- gotta say, aside from the wak knees from that crappy SDCC Cap they're molded from, the Hydra soldiers are some of the best from this line- they have great detail, the ones at my Target alll had good paint apps and they even have wrist swivels!
Why did they cheap out on Cap's articulation but give it to the Hydra goons?
The guns- they needed the swivel to hold those (nicely detailed) guns!
A couple of weeks back, I bought the "comic colors" variant soldier from a comic shop and, after I did the "super glue trick" on their knees to tighten them up, I really like him- he looks great as an officer among the MU three-pack Hydra soldiers (I have six of those).
But...it's odd...the standard sodier is much better than the variant.
The standard version has this ammo bely thingie running down his right arm- which is omitted in the variant. Also, the variant lacks the Hydra symbol patch of the left arm (though thte space is molded on) and the Standard soldier has a nice black harness which matches the boots (both are nicely detailed with little "H" buckles on them). The variant's harness is brown (but I might paint it yellow).
Paint apps on the guns is changed on the variant as well- nicely detailed green is added to the guns' handles but the barrel itself lacks the light blue paint of the normal soldier's gun- I painted both barrels black anyway- light blue looks silly there.
Going back tomowwow- might get another soldier to repaint into a variant with additional details.
Speaking of soldiers, Target has been really putting out the revision cases! I bought an extra Wrecker, hosed him in yellow paint and swapped his head for a spare AIM goon head I had and viola! Big tank AIM soldier! Gotta gind him a guge gun for him...maybe repaint a Hydra soldier weapon. An easy conversion if ou're in the mood- and it really spices up the AIM gang to have a different body type in there.
Still no new MU wave anywhere in South Forida I've looked though!
