My personal opinion on Snyder is that he is too much of a commercial (advertising) or music video style director. He relies heavily on editing to music and slow motion shots. He definitely brings the eye candy, that cannot be argued. I'm sure the action sequences in his Superman are going to blow people away. I just think that he's stronger working from an existing source material (300, Watchmen) than with original material (Sucker Punch). More specifically, he pretty much used the actual comics of 300 and Watchmen as the story board for the movie; literally recreating panels off the page. I don't know what's going to be included in this Superman movie, but I just don't see it being based specifically any story arc in particular.
Now, I know that a lot of that deals with the script, BUT Snyder is best, again IMO, at recreating those comic panels, NOT creating his own. I really want him to do a great job and deliver an outstanding movie. I'm just a little worried that his hyper-stylized way of filming will overtake the story.
Ludovicotek this is a great reply. i have just seen this now. brilliant explanation and i understand what you mean about snyders style now.
superman has so many stories and source material im sure they will take elements from alot of it. i think snyder might be a dark horse of a director for superman. everyone is kind of expecting him to drop the ball, but its an over the top mind blowing action superman film that we need. (im sure the story is there) thats what everyone wanted from superman returns and didnt get. we have the technology to do this type of thing now, and we need the greatest hero doing it, not just flying around with lois lane for gods sake!
