The best thing to do IMO is to keep your collection small by setting specific collecting goals; meaning certain teams, or good guys only, or stuff like that. Basically just buying only what you REALLY, REALLY want. That way you won't have the tendency to succumb to impulse buys or troop building or what have you.

So when the day arrives that for whatever reason you get out of collecting... the stuff you have is the stuff you really wanted, so it would be like deciding to quit while you're ahead and make it much easier to stop. And if you do decide to sell it all there is not that much to get rid of.
