The design sheets are used time to time in the public. That was how they showed off the MvC3 minimates too, among many others in the past.

So far he's proving pretty popular with the digital sales reaching ungodly numbers. This is why I think the sudden rush for a minimate happened. They have a quick turnaround with theirs as opposed to hasbro. Yup, he's here to stay. The ultimate universe is the only part of marvel that has 'real time' and real changes that stick. Death is permanent in the Ultimate universe unless it has a backdoor reasoning out of it. They've even offed wolverine just to replace him with his kid that the Hudson's have been raising.
He'll probably show up next year in MU or the Spider-man movie/comic line.
