The movies are successful so far, sure, but the toy lines are another matter altogether.
I think people are going to be very surprised and disappointed at just how small the Avengers toyline ends up being, because if the last two years are any indication, retailers keep "downsizing" the Marvel movie-related lines because they keep turning into pegwarmer-fests.
At this rate, there will possibly be Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man 2 product STILL on shelves when the Avengers movie product hits.
As for alternate universes? We'll continue to get Ultimate and maybe a few other AU figures sprinkled into the line. Main characters first and foremost, though. I bet, for example, we'll get a comic-pack eventually that might have Ultimate Iron Man and Ultimate War Machine (repaint w/ new head and helmet). Plus the way the MU line has generally operated, a Miles Morales Spider-Man is pretty much a certainty within the next year (I'd bet next fall or so...took 'em about a year to do "Commander Rogers" once he appeared, so I bet the timeframe will be the same for Miles Morales Spider-Man).
