Alright, straight dope time. The Wolverine movie was garbage, no two ways about it muff cabbage. That said, Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth was great. Anyhoo, sequel time, and in an unprecedented move Fox got Darren Aronofsky to helm. I cannot overstate that. Darren Aronofsky. It was surreal. It could have been huge, not just a good comic book movie but GREAT movie period. And then he left and took with him ANY hope of that movie being worth a damn. Now what we'll end up with are thirty dollar BD beer coasters and fifteen dollar theater tickets I'd just as soon wipe my ass with.
So, since I can't go back in time and teach Fox the art of decompression (XMO should have been THREE movies, the first adapted from Origin, the second his "Team X" exploits and the third focusing on the Weapon Plus program) or let them know that you don't need to re-tell everyone's origin story every five fuckin' years! Just make a GOOD movie, first and foremost! The Departed? Great movie, and they didn't have to "set it up" with origin story movies for Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg's characters first! Everyone in Hollywood's got their heads WAY up their asses when it comes to "superhero" movies, don't expect that to change.
On a more positive note, how about a "Team X" team pack? Or, ooooohh! Are you ready... Albert and Elise Dee! FTW!
And I sincerely hope all of you have seen Rainn Wilson's incredible new movie Super! It was seriously brilliant, so of course it performed poorly.
Yeah, nice. Just checked Wikipedia and it says that Super, on a meager 2.5 mil budget only took in 324 thousand. Cue Professor Farnsworth's "I don't want to live on this planet anymore."
