Thanks for the nice compliments, the toy itself is just Captain America's jet you can find at target, tru, walmart, zellers etc and its around $24.99 +tax so less then $30.
I used a flat black paint double coated, then bright green, gold, silver, copper for highlights, drybrushed all but the green as I wanted the green to pop. 1 of the last steps which I'll be doing in 5 mins is painting the exhaust on the back it has these like double fins, which to me are the power source beside the turbines, I'm just debating if I want to paint them green or red. I'm leaning towards green, then there's 2-3 spots I have to retouch with black and silver, the missles and 1 spot on the bottom some gold smudged from my finger.
It was definatley a fun project, and highly recommend it, the jet is awesome especially of the box looking at all the detail from tip to tip, but with the stupid paint scheme 50 % of the detail is lost from the wiring in the cockpit, to the seat itself and the countless rivets on both sides of the wings and all over the jet.
The biggest challenge is covering the whole jet as it's a lot of angles and you have to do both top and bottom. You don't want to apply too much paint or it loses detail and looks sloppy, so multiple thin layers of paint were added and blended. Then final red was mainly applied by adding a small amount of red paint to a slightly damn piece of paper towel folded, and whiped fast over entire pieces, u only need a tiny amount, if you want a more factory finish look you can always add more but it's hard to add less without redoing it. Hope this helps anybody thinking of doing it.
It could easily be a Stark jet with a bright red and gold scheme or stealth blue, warmachine black and silver, or turned into a avengers/shield vehicle. or even aim/doom vehicle.
