Hello!
I am so happy to be here. I finally found a forum for toys and with fellow enthusiasts I hope to really enjoy my time here.
I am originally from India, but living in a NW Suburb of Chicago right now. I have always been interested in toys since I was a kid, but due to poor exposure and even worse availability, I could not follow or collect too many toys in the past. What we did, however, have in India in the 90s was a bucket load of G.I.Joe stuff. I still remember trying to buy as many figures as possible. I think I still have all those figures stored away in some dark corner of my house in India. That means the next time I go back to meet my folks, I'll definitely try to get my goodies back with me.
As of now I am a big fan of the Marvel Universe and Marvel 3.75" lines, and Transformers (most modern lines). I am in no way a completionist, and buy only what I like. I don't necessarily turn a blind eye towards collector's items or the ever popular and elusive 'variants', but I tend to look at them as money guzzlers.
I would love to collect every figure in every wave, but we all know how taxing that is on the wallet (pun intended).
I started collecting seriously last year when I came to the states and have been slowly building my collection. Oh and before anybody asks, I believe in freeing my toys from their plastic and bubble confines. I have made it a habit to photograph everything I buy, so I hope to contribute to the discussions and threads. Since I don't have a place to live of my own, I haven't set up my toys in any kind of display yet. I hope to do that sometime in the near future (get a home as well as set up my toys, both).
Over the past few days I have been lurking big time and finally succumbed to registering on the forum. What most people do here is super amazing IMO. The passion they have, and display, for toys has cleared quite a few things in my head. I was constantly thinking about the expenditure on this hobby, but looking at you guys has made me realize that this is what I like, and that I will pursue it.
That's it for now. See you around on the forums.
