If you're a fan of the
Brink
First Person Shooter(FPS), would you like to see a
GI Joe FPS
based on the same engine? Rumor has it, that such a game may be in development. Recently,
Now Gamer
posted an article referencing a report by
Industrygamers
in which
Splash Damage
, creator of Brink, is said to be developing a game that....
....will be based on one of the biggest American pop culture brands of the last 50 years, and there's no doubt Splash Damage can do the licence justice. However, the project's success will depend a great deal on the backing it gets from the media company that owns the IP – a company widely believed to have given up on the console publishing business.
While some speculate that the IP holder in question may be Disney/Marvel, Now Games theorizes it may actually be Hasbro, as an FPS is more fitting for GI Joe than it would be for Disney. Also, Hasbro licenses its IP for games now in lieu of actually publishing the games itself. Add onto that,
GI Joe Retaliation
premieres on June 29th 2012. From the way Industrygamers describes the upcoming game, making such a game would be easy as the technology for online multiplayer is already in place, and it could use a further refined Brink engine.
In any case, if a GI Joe FPS using a more polished Brink engine is in the works, would you be excited for it?
