This is my first custom fig (and I'm now thinking it won't be my last), and I'm pretty happy with my effort. Daken is without a doubt my favorite Marvel character, so without any sight of him possibly showing up in the future from Hasbro, it was a no brainer that I'd try make him. Plus, Guardian was already a near perfect start...
Simply stripped Guardian's paint (only half done in pic), and then painted his body all black. I was ready to paint him brown, but the black actually looked like the right colour regardless, and then followed up with a dry wash of dark brown. Did only one coat of yellow on his mask and made his eyes white. I honestly don't know if Daken is supposed to be wearing slippers or what, but on his feet I added a touch of the yellow anyway. May not be accurate but I think it works.
I snipped and filed some hairclips to make the claws, and glued them to some cut off bits of plastic from ROC Storm Shadow's gauntlets.
Lastly, got some white/grey ribbon and fashioned his wraps. Some of the ribbon frayed, but honestly, kinda think it works.
And here we are, the finished product. I painted the stand black, and I still plan on putting his name on there somewhere.
Only thing I don't like is how the glue kinda made his gloves and hands clumpy. Other than that, like I said, I am happy with it!
