The 2nd Star Wars environment set was just released and it features a fan favorite, Han in Carbonite. As a kid I was fascinated with this this scene from Jedi and from the initial carbon process from Empire.
At the end of Empire, I placed my Han figure in an ice tray and for the most part he stayed there. Of course it took a lot of begging from mom but I won in the end and he got thawed right before Jedi premiered. This action was repeated for thousands of kids who were mesmerized by this movie. I know I was shocked when he got froze and it still brings a chill now.........25+ years latter.
This version from Sideshow toys brings that magic back home and builds upon the awesome Jaba throne room from a few years back. When I first opened the box I was surprised at the overall size, this item is huge! There is not much work involved in setting this up, in fact it took me 5 minuets from start to finish. Unlike the other figures in the Star Wars line, this one seems.....dare I say .....boring??
Many might think that but remember this is a diorama piece/ polystone Figure Environment. I was expecting some lights and whistles with this piece as the price is quite high ($199.99). I am still on the fence with the price; $150 would have been more appropriate for this piece. Still, I am happy with it and the really cool thing is the carbon block seems to float in mid air thanks to a well positioned pin and magnet.
Overall I would rate it a solid 7 just because of the scene portrayed and the overall size. Also, these pieces are numbered editions, mine was 0122 out of 2000, not bad if I must say. If price is your issue, wait for a sale or check EBay in a few months and if not, get on that wait list!
