Let me clarify. I chose a poor choice or words. By "done better," I don't mean box office take. I ment it would have been received better, both critically and by fans.
Though, I feel that too many people place too much faith in what actor is attached to what project, and if said actor is popular enough to be a big "draw." Especially by the studios. After all... Star Wars used a bunch of no-named unknown actors... and that film did decently enough.
As for the film's content, I agree that like Spiderman 3, it had too much going on that nothing got the time it deserved. I personally could have lived without either hammond or parallax.
Even being a bretty big GL fan, I'd not yet heard of Hammond before this movie.
And Parallax is one of those larger than life event things that if not done eactly right in a live action setting, would be aweful and beyond stupid. While I do think it was handled well enough (It was a scary concept), it seems like it would have been better for a second or third movie (Maybe the Sinestro Corps unleashed it).
Like I said, I think the focus of the movie should have been over Hal, Carol, Sinestro, and the concept. Hammond would have made a decent enough villain to keep the story moving.
So yeah, I guess it's Parallax that took away from what the movie should have been.
