I received an early Christmas present today, and to my surprise, it was one of the new Super Heroes LEGO sets. It is set #6862 - Superman vs. Power Armor Lex, and below are a couple pictures to give you an idea of the quality that LEGO put into this set.
So let's get started.
Minifigures - Superman, Lex Luthor, and Wonder Woman.
Superman
- This is a great figure and has all of the detail you'd expect from LEGO, including that goofy curl of hair. He is top notch.
Lex Luthor
- Lex is pretty basic considering that his comic persona isn't exactly iconic except for his bald head, but still, I expected more. To me this just looks like another random LEGO person.
Wonder Woman
- I assume they threw her into the set to spice it up and give it more bang for the buck, and I'm glad they did. Wonder Woman is a great little figure, and her pieces are all unique to her character. I even like the lasso.
The Power Armor (construction set)
- The scale of it is perfect for LEGO and they really did a great job with the detail. The legs swivel, and can be adjusted front to back and side to side. Also, there was a lot of detail put into the design to make it feel like a Kryptonite death machine, and there is a chunk of Kryptonite placed in his gun. Plus, it was fun to build.
The bonus "comic"
- This was the main let down for me. With the amount of detail going into this LEGO set I expected the comic to be a neat addition, but it wasn't. It is cheaply made and resembles the instruction booklet. In fact, I'd say it is nothing more than an advertisement for the other figures and sets coming out, with an occasional comic panel tossed in. Not cool LEGO.
I give this set an 8/10.
