We've got a new Transformers toy gallery to share with you now! This time out, we're taking a look at one of the items that's been released in Japan but has never been released elsewhere in the world. The subject of tonight's gallery update is
Dark of the Moon Striker Optimus Prime
, a remold of the Revenge of the Fallen Leader Class Optimus Prime with new MechTech weapons that combine into a larger MechTech rifle and a shield. The toy also features the Dark of the Moon accurate abs from the
Jetwing Optimus Prime
release.
Of course, as far as Leader Class Optimus Prime toys go, the bar was set very high in Revenge of the Fallen with another Japan exclusive piece,
Buster Optimus Prime
. When discussing this gallery with 2005 Photo Staff member SydneyY - give him mad props for the excellent pics everyone! - he explained it to me thus:
After looking at Striker Optimus Prime, Buster Optimus looks very gaudy. I personally prefer the subdued grey and blue of Striker. (comparison shots at the end of the gallery) Overall he looks very realistic - he may not have the screen accurate shine like Buster, but to me, he has more character.
Click on the link below and check out the gallery to judge for yourself! For a comparison,
