The prices are so beyond dissapointing. In fact, just about everything Hasbro's done in recent years is behind the times, and dissapointing.
Dark of the Moon offered the best opportunity in years to completely redesign the line from the ground up, to accomidate the new trends of smaller scales to match the rising prices.
Instead of getting rid of the scouts (Again, UGH!), they needed to embrace them the way they did back in the Beast era, Energon, and Cybertron.
They needed to make the scouts the focal point of the line. Make it the "new" deluxe, by putting all the normal deluxe type characters in as scouts. Movie Bumblebee, Barricade, G1 Prowl, Starscream.
Scale back about 75-85% on the deluxes, and focus the "bigger" guys and stars there. Movie Ironhide and Ratchet, and even the obligatory Bumblebees and primes. Mostly use it as the new mega or voyager, even. Save Voyagers for even larger and less common guys, and superstars, like Movie Prime and Megatron (Basically, aside from some scaling back, pretty good there.
This would also make the Legends/Legions more viable as parts of a full collection, and more interactive with the mainline. (IE, Legends Trailbreaker wouldn't look completely rediculous next to a lineup of scouts, the way he does to a lineup of deluxes)
And up to DotM, we've gotten a pretty sizable chunk of G1/G2 updated in classis. So a new turning point and a new focus wouldn't completely alienate and piss off the longterm classics collectors the way it may have two years ago.
