The CW Gives Greenlight To 'Arrow'; Based On DC Comics Book Green Arrow
Reported by Outsiders - 09:23 PM 2012.01.18
We recently
reported
that the CW network was close to wrapping up a deal for a pilot order of a Arrow, based on the DC Comics book Green Arrow.
Today, this deal went through and the CW gave the greenlight to a handful of pilots including Arrow. David Nutter is expected to direct the pilot which was written by Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim based on a story by Greg Berlanti and Guggenheim. Justin Hartley, who played the character on the CW’s Smallville for several seasons, is not attached to the new project.
This is the first I've heard of this, and assuming the pilot is good and they give it the go ahead to continue, I'm looking forward to it. If nothing else, it should make for an interesting pilot. While I haven't seen much of Hartley's portrayal in Smallville, the bits I have seen didn't really wow me, so I can't say that I'm displeased to see that he won't be attached to the project. Hopefully they're able to get some decent actors/actresses for it. Would be great to see this spawn a movie too, but I'm getting a bit ahead of myself there. I'm reading the new 52 GA comics, so it should be interesting to be able to compare the two.
