To be fair,i build all my dioramas from scratch,i like industrial apocalyptic, dystopian dark future type stuff, and its tough to find that sort of thing pre-made,the only trouble is stuff never gets properly finished because i keep tweeking it when i have a new idea!!
In terms of what i use, anything goes!! You need to train your mind to a scavenger/packrat mentality,if it looks useful stash it somewhere for future projects!!
Cardboard (boxes+tubing) is great for your start up walls/floor,or swap card for polystyrene sheet to make great walls(you can easily cut it to add battle damage/weathering) car body repair mesh is perfect for fences/grilles,walkways ANY kind of plastic pipe in as many diameters as you can find(though the ribbed stuff for electrical conduit is particularly awesome) cans/food tins can make perfect fuel/water tanks with a bit of work, bits of computers especially USB ports, headphone sockets, printer ribbons, and electrical cabling, toy parts, bits of cars, old stereos, broken clockworks/old watches are always things im looking out for.Ya just gotta use your imagination, and in terms of images i just google exactly what i want ie,water damaged walls, rusty metal, industrial piping, etc, and iv found modelling magazines are great for tips on painting walls, buildings etc, especially damaged ones.
