I have a story I want to share that I hope you will all read.
It wasn't until my recent ML haul that I realized the truth. I was so excited at the return of ML because I wanted to build my 6" Modern Avengers and Uncanny X-Force that I went to the nearest TRU I could find on the day they released. I got there and found 1 Extremis Iron Man with a whole column of empty pegs. I went and asked a clerk if there were more in stock, she laughed and said "You're kidding right? These sell out the second the doors open on shipment days. Its just one big race to the boys section."
I thought she was exacerbating and just frustrated with work or something and could care less about some collector and his woes with toys. While all of the above may still have been true, her comment to me completely reinforced the phrase, "The truth hurts" when I went back two days later. I took an early lunch because of a change in meeting time and decided I might as well see what the fuss about TRU at open was all about.
I shit you not fellow Arkers...there was 8 dudes standing by their parked vehicles on cell phones waiting for the doors to open. I managed to follow behind a mother who was waiting to exchange some toddler item and made it in the doors before everyone else and just made a bee line to the Marvel section. VIOLA! Full pegs of ML and it was glorious! I grabbed the ONLY Ghost rider and took only one of each figure I actually wanted and didn't even bother with constrictor or klaw.
I grabbed and bolted to the register to pay and leave, however, all the clerks were in a meeting so I had to wait. I decided I didn't like the paint apps on Steve rogers so I went back to the aisle to see if there was a better...you all know the drill. The second I hit the aisle it was packed with dudes all waiting their turn to scavenge the pegs. The first thing I hear is "I guess they didn't release a ghost rider in this box..." one guy turns sees it in my hand and 3 guys start asking if i grabbed any variants, I say there was no variants and then as I walk away one guy asks if he can just "see the ghost rider"...it was kinda creepy. Then he got on his phone saying that this wasn't the variant wave. Finally I get to the parking lot and one guy offers me $25 for ghost rider, I laughed got in my car and got the hell out of there.
TOY COLLECTING IS SERIOUS BUSINESS. 0_0
Glad I have a real day job:P Or would be tempted to go see that. You should have videod it for us arker's to see:P

I haven't seen a scalper either I don't think...a SW collector though over the weekend, we both hit the same stores which was funny.

That's because they're really just collectors. If you've ever met a collector who resells their stuff at any point in their lives for more money than they paid, a lot of fellow collectors would call them a scalper.
My score! I'm very psyched for these, though I'm not sure I'll ever look inside the Invaders set. It's taped neatly shut... MOC OCD what are you doing to me?!?!?
Ha ha, mine wasn't taped when I got mine, which was fine though cause I did pull them out to read the cards. Great artwork for sure.
