happened to take her straight damn hair of the prior ten years and make it into that rosebush

Really- look at Rogue as drawn by Paul Smith and JrJr- slender build, straight hair kinda spiked at the front- shoulder length at
longest
for practical reasons.
Suddenly Silvestri gets on the title in the late 80's and everyone gets a new hair-related mutant power...
Which snowballls into the 90's horror show of poofy hair thick enough to stop a bullet and the occasional anatomical horrorshow of Lifield's hair on Cable and Wolverine.
Cable looked like he had a white curly fry on top of his head and Logan...just..
I mean, damn- his hair was as big as his oversized mask-ears! he could have glided away on it, possibly parasailing behind the Blackbird.
And then there's the oddity of the headband-based hairline (which Rogue
rocked
for the 90's decade). Sure it was a fashion statement lost since Olivia Newton John was relevant, but no one ever accused comics creators with being in touch with current events- just look at all those awful 70's costumes that were still being made in the mid-80's.
I'm looking at
you
John Byrne- open shirts and high collars never really happened outside cheesy 70's movies anyway, pal,
Speaking of weird Hair what is up with Starfire? she has like this weird hair trail whenever she flys off.
Speaking of Headbands my favorite was the Punisher though for that I blame Rambo and not Miss John
