also swapped emails with this other collector guy after we talked about articulation over the course of 2 stores. and this other collector was sad that i'd gotten to the flame on torch and wwhulk first so i let him have the wwhulk. ah needs mah flame on torch.
other times it's simple polite chitchat or trying to race eachother to the toy aisle due to quiet competition and seeing the same people while doing the exact same toy run.
I remember a few years ago going into TRU. I'd been looking for Animated Arcee for a couple months with absolutely no luck. Walked around the corner, and bam. There she was, and she was the last one. There was another collector standing nearby (who had the second to last one in his hands). I let out a squeek, snatched her off the peg and clutched her to my chest.
The guy standing next to me couldn't help but laugh.
Not mockingly laughing at me, but because he understood that sensation of finally finding something that's *really* hard to find, and that you *really* wanted.

i think only 1 cashier gave me a semi hard time but it was at target and there's always other cashiers.
I've personally never had much trouble with most toys (Occasionally getting someone who insists on asking me if it's for a son I don't have, and looking at me dissapprovingly if I answer no). But I seem to get the chatty or snobby types every single time I try to buy one of my favorite MLP:FiM characters.
That's not to try to put you off Timone... it means I do understand how you feel. it's given me a bit of a complexe with that part of my collection.
But like we've all said, you just have to own it, and not care about what people who don't matter think.
