Well, Topher Grace's build and look was from the Ultimate line, but his story arc and personality were perfectly in sync with the regular continuity. Funny too, since Raimi wanted nothing to do with Venom, but it was Venom who received the least amount of tinkering compared to Goblin, Doc Ock, and Sandman.

As a HUGE Venom fan back in the 90's (before the vigilante crap and all the insanity of the last decade), I was VERY satisfied with Venom in SM3. He was near perfect. The Black Suit, however, was horribly cheated. They should have toned back Sandman's "morality" and focused on Black Spidey becoming more violent, not a member of the Bee Gees.
