Displays can be set up using bookcases, tables etc...I mounted 5 10' boards to one of my walls, painted them black and had instant shelves for around 45$. For me, opening my collection is part of the fun and it serves a purpose of ease of packing come moving time...guess its up to you really though...

Well put, if you take care of your figures that are loose they still retain a lot of value and in some cases more. Ie BAF'S buying a BAF piece by piece can get pricey and a lot of the time especially with older waves you don't want all the figures. Mainly the BAF. So opening them selling the figures off loose and a complete baf hits more target audiences and can get you more of a return especially with cheaper shipping costs you can off. A rare figure is always going to be a rare figure, a loose but complete ML deadpool can bring $80-90 on ebay, where as him MOC may bring $100-120 so keeping him MOC does add a bit more to the value, but not always a substantial amount.
