iLegends73, keep in mind that 'credible' differences are purely subjective. There are likely some collectors out there who care about those minor differences, even if it's just sticker placement.
I do know for certain that there are a VERY small handful of Marvel Universe Collectors who care about the Nick Fury/Archangel sticker inclusion. Some collectors remove the stickers, and some try to obtain 'original' figures with the sticker still applied.
In my opinion, the sticker can be removed and re-applied (though not easily), so I don't personally see it as a 'credible' difference, but again, it's very subjective from collector to collector.

Since it was changed around wave 2 or 3 of Series 3, any subsequent release of figures from the first couple waves have the potential to get a gold shield release along with their original black shield release. But because that changeover occurred so long ago, I doubt there will be any more transitional variants (like with the Cap'n and Doc).
The best I can tell, it was a conscious decision on the part of the Marvel Universe Hasbro team to change the first wave(s) of Series 3 to match the rest of the waves in that series. Originally, the first one or two waves were only released with the black shield, but the majority of the series was released with gold.
When they went back to change the shield, they must have wanted to revise the card art as well to make it align better with the rest of the series at the same time. Some card art was better aligned for the space, some was zoomed in and rotated, and some were kept as-is.
It's really kind-of silly to make these changes anyway. I get that you want to have some uniformity throughout the series, but who is it benefiting? Only MOC collectors would even really notice, and probably wouldn't even care. It's certainly not a 'how they look on the pegs together' thing, since Series 1, 2, and 4 are still coming out at the same time, and are all generally different, (with 4 being dramatically different).
Just think about the amount of work Hasbro put into these minor changes (and re-changes in the case of Doc and Captain), and how little difference they make. All that money spent on that project and they're too cheap to keep David Vonner attached.
Sorry, that's a bit of personal frustration there at the end.
