DURHAM, NC – Some of Hollywood’s finest are visiting the Museum of Life and Science on Saturday, September 12 to share with visitors the science behind the movie making industry. “This is the only event of its kind in North Carolina,” says Shawntel Landavazo, event organizer and Museum employee.
The event features a variety of high-profile companies and individuals that have worked behind the scenes in the film making industry. Applied Science International, LLC (ASI), a Durham based engineering software development company will present its newest software, SLAM FX, which was used to create captivating destruction visual effects for the box office hit GI Joe. Currently the visual effects software tool is only available to select film makers; however ASI plans to officially release SLAM FX to the general public in early 2010.
Heroes, Villains and Special Effects is taking place at the Museum of Life and Science on Saturday, September 12 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The Museum is located at 433 Murray Avenue, Durham. Admission to the event is free with a museum admission. Admission is $12.50 for adults, $10.50 for Seniors (age 65 and older), $9.50 for children 3 – 12 and free for under 3.
