I preorder- if I can get them at retail before the preorder shipps, I'll go that route and cancel the preorder...but often, like with the DD, Quicksilver, Warlock and Sinister comic packs, BBTS get me my figs months before anyone spots them at retail!
But with some waves, like the Doctor Stange wave, I scored at retail- variants too- way before BBTS had anything so I cancelled that preorder- no hard feeling or anything.
It's a good insurance policy and costs no more for me than LCS prices or wasting gas.

That shading crap comes off with a Q-Tip and 97% alcohol- took the Shadowland DD emblem off with no figure damage for a great black outfit buck gor Grim reaper (now I need a Bullseye head!).
Works on the shading on the Thor from the Avengers box set too.
