Yes, they go unscanned often. I've had more than a few go from "accepted" to "delivered" in the span of a week with no updates in between. In fact delivery confirmation is a waste of money really. They can deliver it to your neighbors and it would still be scanned as delivered. Insurance is the best way to go, that way you're not out due to some jerkoff's incompetence. DC just lets you see it in transit. I've been through a huge ordeal with my PO over it and I know have to drive down and pick up any package that doesn't fit in my mail box.
