I know my loss of collections wouldn't be close to this, but just to answer the original question. . .I was living with my father (parents divorced) when I went to college. My father died 3 months later. My mother and sister were still in town there; I was 500 miles away. They had to handle everything. Somewhere along the way, they managed to lose all my Gobots and G1 Transformers.

My sister took a lot of my stuff to her house. Some got stored in the shed. On a trip home after my first year of college, we discovered a dead rat in my box of MOTU figures. We ended up tossing those too.

One of my first memories of childhood. . .I was 6 and we were moving from Texas to Florida. . .I had decided that for the trip I was going to take with me in the car my collection of the mini-comics that had come with the Super Powers figures.
