Of course, Men in Black figures both prove and disprove that theory in the same vein, since they both come out with Wave 1 figures in suits, and are soon thereafter clearanced out... lol.
It only applies to toy lines where the majority of the main characters are not in suits.
For example, the A-Team movie toys. Face Man gets released wearing a suit. Line dies after only one wave (which included Face).

While I'm quite positive of that fact...

"I don't know the status of the Unmasked Doom" is a far cry from "not seeing the light of day."
....I was making an inference based on your comments in the other thread as well as the one you quoted here. Granted, it may have been hyperbolic to use the phrase "light of day", but it certainly is not that far off from what you actually posted. And to add to the semantics fire, I did not misquote you. I paraphrased you.
I did forgot about Unmasked Doom being sold at NYCC, but calling that Doom "released" because of it is open for debate. Personally, I won't call it released until it is available to the public with the purchase a new digital subscription (as Fury and Angel were before him) or sold at regular retail.
My guess is Hasbro/Marvel are holding off on using Doom for the new sub figure because AA is still generating steady sales. They will probably want to wait until sales slow down before changing it so they can boost them back up again. And just to emphasize the point, this theory is in no way backed by any sources, confidential or otherwise. I'm just cynical and jaded.
