Some rumors have suggested that initial screenings with Duke getting killed off did not go over well and the studio decided to do re-shoots. It would also explain why they said they pushed back the release to do post-production 3D (even though practically every movie that has that process done is worse off for it. Better to start at 3D than try to tack it on during post).

If it made it to the prototype stage, there is a distinct possibility that it will see an eventual release (assuming Hasbro can find a retailer to take it on). Maybe it will be available when the movie finally hits theaters next year - as an exclusive of some sort.
