Calf swivel makes no sense to me other than easier part swapping for figure making. Otherwise it's mostly useless and just gets in the way. Thigh swivel I do like though.
I like upper arm swivel personally, but that's because I want double jointed elbows as well as double jointed knees for better articulation.
I love the Kamen Rider Motion Revive style articulation, and MU is extremely close to that if not better by not having the double shoulder joints and having a head tilt. The newer gi joe wrists are also perfect with their added range of motion(the ninja hands). Wish those would be added to MU too. The perfect figure to me is something like the ultra poseable amazing spider-man figure but with a little more range of motion in the feet.
For me the goal of a figure's articulation should be for it to be able to do all the same iconic poses a character is known for or uses in the media the character is in. That's what a kid will try to recreate, and what out of package collectors will want to pose it like.

Head tilt on figures is freaking epic! You never notice how much you really need it for poses until you have it. Especially love it on the commander rogers buck as it makes him look where he's pointing his weapons at.
