In response to Mastersteef...
Glad you liked the movie man.
A couple of points.
Organic webbing is just gross and strange to me. Plus it seems impossible to produce the amount he would need to get by. Spiders have large abdomens that produce their webbing. The largest part of their body. Plus, web shooters add an element of danger, because they can run out or be damaged.
Him adapting a previous technology for his own needs is what makes it work. Otherwise it would seem far fetched. Still shows off his intellect in designing the shooters.
Lizard is a longtime foe and fan fav. May not be as mainstream as some foes, still pretty kick ass and long anticipated from the teasers in the Raimi films.
And I don't know why people seem to think that this Spider-Man film franchise can't have it's own origin. It deserves a chance to tell its own story. No one complains about having to watch the Wayne folks get shot down time after time.
Not sure its worth bashing the story based on the cognitive abilities of a 4 year old. You said he liked it, I'm sure he'll figure it out at some point. As to the chronological order, you can tell him it's #1, because it is #1. These movies have nothing to do with the Raimi films. I know you know this but you might want to explain it to him or he might mistake future villains as ghosts. As in I thought the Green Goblin was dead daddy...?
As for Sandman, I think he's one of the worst Spidey villains. Just too weird for movie goers. The movie should have focused on Venom. And I know Venom was an afterthought.
As for your endorsement of Tobey as the better Peter... I've been reading Spider-Man for over 20 years and I totally disagree. Wrong hight, build, look, hair, and every time he opens his mouth he just comes off wrong.
I enjoyed the first two movies, but mostly because it was my boy on the big screen for the first time. I overlooked a lot in an effort to enjoy the films. And I did. They were good and had a lot going for them (Not the third).
But this was the Spider-Man I've been waiting for and I is happy.
