I used to have a 21st Century Cobra but I decided to get rid of it becuse it was more VietNam era instead of modern.
Actually the Cobra from 21st was a more modern version...the Vietnam era versions are the ones with RPG launchers and smaller guns in the front. I can see what you're saying though, the Cobra design itself originated before the other copters.

Well I don't think they have any competitors to worry about. BBi seems to be very quiet lately.
BBI has always been quiet. They never announce anything unless it it's on it's way over via boat, and even then, sometimes retailers back out, as with the case of the 1/32 F-104. Years back I used to ask Mike from BBI about a Tomcat. Hell if you asked the guy anything he always said "wait and see"(well okay most of the time, no offense Mike, it was fun). One day I did ask about the possibility for an F/A-18D Night Attack Hornet and F/A-18E/F Super Hornets and he said BBI wouldn't do those because they were too similar to the Legacy Hornet they already had out.
As for competitors, the closest one now is Admiral Toys. JSI
does not
want overlapping releases. Remember the time when Admiral announced their F-86E and ME-262 respectively before 21st announced theirs? Not to mention, everyone has bitter memories over the F-4 fiasco.
One of the main reasons people flocked to 21st Century Toys was because at the time of their 1/18 XD releases, NO ONE else was making realistic 1/18 military toys. So back then, the 1/18 P-51D/ME-109(primitive by today's standards), were realistic gems to be found at Toys R Us. This was around 2000. The reason people stuck with them was due to their dedication to accuracy, this was something that they maintained over BBI. There used to be heated debates over which P-51D/Corsair was better, 21st's V2.0 or BBI's. In the end, the battle was between accuracy and finish; BBI's was weathered, 21st's wasn't but tended to be more accurate.
So that's what JSI is getting at, are you buying their products due to accuracy, realism(as in say, compared to other lines such as G.I. Joe, Avatar, et al), real world vehicles, et al?
