Holy crap that brings back memories- over summer vacation I was obligatory kitchen slave at some barbeque joint my father was managing right across the street from that playworld and at the end of summer he gave me $100 to spend there....I filled up a cart with Star Wars and I think some Micronauts and Black Hole toys.
I was king of the world that day...I think I was like eleven....it seemed unreal the size of the place, but it was probably not really bigger than a TRU, I guess.
A hundered bucks was CRAZY money for a little kid...but craptastic for missing summer to work cleaning all day in some crappy kitchen.
I saw the kid do the "cough trick" as he pulled the bubble open on something and I looked at him and kinda shook my head to say "You're gonna get busted" but he must have misunderstood that as "I'm going to vivisect your family" and hauled ass.
No idea why i ws even looking around in there- I think I was out of collecing at that time- probably looking for cheap model kits to kitbash into spaceships 9my other big hobby).
Down the street there used to be a Toys R Us, right near a Publix. I believe I was like8 years old and had birthday money to spend. Mom dropped me off while she got groceries.
I was so excited to get GI Joes but I had to go to the bathroom. I tried to hold it so I could dig through all the vehicles but I crapped my pants.
Ran to the bathroom, cleaned up and then I hid my underpants in the tank of the toilet. Went and grabbed some figs and a vehicle and kept my dirty secret to myself until the place was torn down like 10 years later.
I was always so nervous they would find my underpants stuffed in the toilet tank, I wonder if they ever did.
