If I come across something of value, sure I'll grab more and try to make a few bucks. I don't see anything wrong with that. There's nothing wrong with making a profit, but there's something wrong with depriving every other collector out there of something they really want. Someone that drives to every single store within a 50 mile radius simply to grab all of something with the sole intention of reselling it at a huge markup... that's a scalper in my book. I sell stuff on eBay too, but I help out Arkers when I can as well.
I can understand that the manufacturers are at fault for poor distribution, but I can honestly say that there are extreme scalpers in the LA area. Out of all the hunting I've done over the past few weeks, I wasn't even able to spend more than $100 on buying stuff at retail because I couldn't find anything. Then you go look at eBay or go to Frank & Sons - you'll find a whole bunch of sellers from Los Angeles that are selling crap for outrageous prices. And that same crap is the stuff I am never able to find anywhere. If people are willing to buy it, then that's on the buyer. I can't blame the seller for the buyer's idiocy. However I can blame the seller for grabbing ever friggin' item off the pegs and leaving nothing for anyone else. There's really nothing I can do about it, though, because people will do whatever they want to do regardless of what I have to say about it. Do I feel a little better when I talk smack about scalpers? Yeah, somewhat. At least I know why I can't find something and I get to vent about it. Thankfully, I have this site to retreat to when a hunting day goes bad. There will normally be someone on here that's willing to lend a helping hand and relieve my stress.
THANK YOU! Finally, someone who agrees with me.
