I got to make a dollar or two on a figure for my time. Heck, when I get Galactus for people I only make about $3.50 on it as I round up to the nearest $5 mark at that price. I could just put the stuff on ebay and have that money for my own collection.
I have a problem with scalpers when they make it hard for me to find things at retail by buying all certain items. That CREATES a high price on the secondary market. We see it with figures of popular characters that are slow to come out, even if they will be plentiful later, like the new MU comic packs. Someone will always get it early and try to sell it for a high price on ebay. That leads to others jumping to conclusions that said item is rare, which makes them grab all of up when they see it on shelves thus creating an artificial price. Once a ton show up ebay at least the crazy high prices come down a bit but because someone paid $50 or $60 last month why won't they pay $25-$30 now. This rarely happens with repaints of common figures or characters that aren't desired.
Somewhat on topic, what is a fair price for the SDCC X-Force 3-pack and Fantomex unopened?
I've got a loose fantomex in proper condition for 15 to you in canada if you're interested. I'd throw in the baf too
